Baret Yoshida is from Hawaii, where he gained his purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Relson Gracie. Yoshida eventually went on to become a black belt under Egan Inoue in 2002 and has been a frequent competitor in the biannual Abu Dhabi submission grappling championship.
He would eventually grant MMA fighter Andy Wang a black belt in 2004. Baret Yoshida now trains at Undisputed Gym in San Diego, California, where he has been since 2006.
