Chris Leben became a mixed martial arts fan favorite soon after his debut on SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter. The act of urinating in the bed of a fellow contestant on the show in an early episode after drinking too much brought him immediate noteworthiness as a personality. Though known first and foremost as striker he also is familiar with submissions, as shown in his armbar victory against Edwin Dewees in October 2005.
In May 2008 Chris Leben was jailed to resolve a probation infraction in Oregon resulting from a prior conviction of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. The incarceration cost him his fight against Michael Bisping at UFC 85.
