Daniel Moraes is a world champion black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu from Gracie Humaita in Rio de Janeiro where he trains alongside Royler Gracie, and other members of the Gracie family. His first fight in mixed martial arts was against Forrest Petz at the Gracie Fighting Championships in March 2006. The fight did not likely live up to his own expectations, as in the third round he was too gassed to continue.
