Profile: Demian Maia (full name: Demian Augusto Maia Baptista) began his MMA fighting career in December 2005. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he is a grappler by background under BJJ team Brasa. In his relatively brief time as a mixed martial artist most of his wins have come from submissions. He won the 77kg - 87kg weight division at the 2007 ADCCs, an event in which he beat Yushin Okami.
