Profile: Kimbo Slice, whose given name is Kevin Ferguson, is most known for his bare-knuckle backyard boxing matches in Miami, Florida. He competed in his first mixed martial arts fight on June 23rd, 2007 against former boxing superstar Ray Mercer, whom he defeated in a little over one minute into the first round. His preparation for this debut was under the tutelage of Bas Rutten and Shawn Thompkins, and he was shown training with IFL Anacondas member Alex Schoenauer and even the New York Bad Ass Phil Baroni.

In November 2007 Elite XC president Gary Shaw announced that EliteXC has signed Kimbo Slice to a multiple fight deal.
