Ricco Rodriguez is a mixed martial artist whose first professional MMA fight took place in 1999. Born in New York, he moved westward as his career in combat sports developed.
Over the course of his career Rodriguez has garnered wins over very tough opponents like Randy Couture, Jeff Monson, and Andrei Arlovski. He was not very active in MMA in 2007 however.
Rodriguez is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the Machados, and has fought in the prestigious ADCCs. In 2001 his match against Marcelo Garcia provided iconic David and Goliath photos, in a contest Rodriguez would go on to lose.
In the latter part of 2007 Ricco Rodriguez took time away from mixed martial arts to focus on getting his personal life together. He fulfilled part of a court's demand to go to rehab for domestic violence issues by appearing on Celebrity Rehab, a reality television show on VH1.
