A close friend of Jorge Gurgel, Rich "Ace" Franklin hails from Ohio and has become one of the most famous fighters in the UFC. He is managed by Monte Hall, as are many high-level midwestern mixed martial artists. Franklin is a potent striker yet also is comfortable on the ground. Most of his wins do come as a result of his striking ability however.
Similar to Andy Wang, Franklin was a high school teacher before fully devoting himself to MMA. Rich Franklin is also an outspoken Christian.
