Gina Carano is a female MMA fighter who began as a kickboxer. A Texas girl, she was born to a former Dallas Cowboy football player. Today Gina Carano trains at Extreme Couture in Las Vegas, Nevada, owned by Randy Couture. Her strength in the ring is her muay-thai and kickboxing background, but she is improving her Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the tutelage of Scott Bieri.
Gina Carano is currently signed to fight in events under EliteXC. It is expected that she will fight again in the first quarter of 2008 although it was wondered if Carano's recent involvement in the NBC show American Gladiators as the gladiator known as Crush may complicate her fighting career.
EliteXC quashed any speculation that American Gladiators would interfere with Gina Carano's MMA career when in April 2008 it was announced that she had been resigned to a multi-year deal with EliteXC along with Kimbo and Robbie Lawler.
Gina Carano stated that to take some of the nerves off before a fight she likes to dance and pray.
