UFC 321: Aspinall vs. Gane Main Card

Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane

It comes as no surprise to see Aspinall listed at –400 odds. The Brit is clearly the best heavyweight in the world, and although Gane is a good fighter, he doesn’t have the heart of a champion.

He gave up very easily when losing to Jon Jones by submission. He is 2-0 since, but those wins came over Serghei Spivak and Alexander Volkov, who aren’t in the same realm as Aspinall, so we expect the 35-year-old to struggle.

Aspinall is having his first fight since knocking over Curtis Blaydes in a minute at UFC 304. His last three wins have come by KO in and around the 1-minute mark, so he’s not taking long to win, and that could be the case again.

He’s worth including in UFC parlays this week at the odds, but bettors get +100 for a KO victory, and that’s a much better price.

Prediction: Tom Aspinall by KO @ +100

Virna Jandiroba vs. Mackenzie Dern

There is always too much money invested in Dern, so we’re backing Jandiroba at better odds.

Dern has five losses on her record, and she seems to come unstuck when the pressure goes on. That shouldn’t be the case for Jandiroba, who is 22-3, and coming off a decision win over Yan Xiaonan, where she landed 96 strikes and three takedowns.

Dern might be the crowd favorite, but if Jandiroba takes her down, we don’t think she’ll be as effective. We expect this fight to be mostly on the canvas, which suits the current +142 underdog.

Prediction: Virna Jandiroba @ +142

—-

Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Mario Bautista

One of the shortest-priced favorites on the UFC 321 card is Umar Nurmagomedov, who is the current –550 favorite to beat Mario Bautista.

The 18-1 bantamweight suffered his first career loss at UFC 311, but that came against Merab Dvalishvili for the title. He lost no admirers with that performance, going five rounds and landing 104 significant strikes to Dvalishvili’s 111.

Bautista looks like a nice fighter on the rise, but he’s not in the same class as Nurmagomedov, who should dominate the fight at skinny odds.

Prediction: Umar Nurmagomedov @ -550

—-

Alexander Volkov vs. Jailton Almeida

Two bruising heavyweights battle as Alexander Volkov and Jailton Almeida are expected to leave nothing inside the Octagon.

Almeida has momentum on his side after knocking out Spivak late in the first round at UFC 311. A repeat of that performance could see him get a fight against the winner of the main event, in what is a heavyweight division lacking depth.

Looking to stop him is Volkov, who always gives it his all. He might be lacking the put away punch recently, but he has been in the Octagon with some of the best fighters, including Aspinall in 2022.

Almeida is the –220 favorite, and we expect him to win via KO.

Prediction: Jailton Almeida @ -220

—-

Aleksandar Rakic vs. Azamat Murzakanov

Rakic vs. Murzakanov is one of the closest betting markets at UFC 321, where Murzakanov is the –120 favorite.

The unbeaten fighter at 15-0 scored a KO win at UFC 316 over Brendson Riberio, and that put the light heavyweight division on notice. He might be 36, but he’s coming for a title shot late in his career.

Rakic was considered good enough to face Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 308. He lost the fight via a decision, but he held his own. It was a solid performance in defeat, which is why he hasn’t been overlooked in UFC betting markets.

It’s a tough fight to call, but Murzakanov is blessed with knockout power, so we’re including him in our UFC 321 picks.

Prediction: Azamat Murzakanov @ -120
